I have spent some time thinking about common denominator especially as it related to an area of work that I love. The work includes executive coaching, team coaching, mentoring coaches and leadership development programs.
As I thought about these areas of work I connected with a child within from the past residing in an adult. Every child’s need is to be cared for and loved, to feel that it is accepted, it belongs to and is loved by care givers whether those are natural parents or not but form a secure and safe family who protects the child in every way. That need in a child is very much present in an adult and continuously looks for nurturing and social nourishment. Therefore the common denominator seems to be the bonding that comes from being unconditionally loved, accepted and provides continuous development both personally and professionally. So social bonding is the denominator in that respect and provides purpose as well as self-identity.
Level 3 teachings have impressed me with regard to marketing and how I was recruited. My initial bicameral thinking perspective suggests that I was lied to in order to hook me to join the society. The wording used suggested that the Society knew a lot more about me than I was aware of and that I was special. The statement made me feel seen and confident and emphasized that although friends and family did not know how special I was they soon will get to know because I have hidden talents which the Society will reveal to me.
The communications painted a picture of me as living a life of a millionaire that I was meant to live. Having a custom built house, flying first class to exotic vacation places. I could speak any language and/or play a musical instrument with ease. Even be able to win at a gambling game like jack rummy even if I had never plaid it before. There were several statements of how the book brought luck to other people and facilitated the wining of large sums of money.
That was fodder to my bicameral mentality especially when I was in a vulnerable state of mind. I have questions whether that kind of advertising is ethical or not even if it is within the legitimacy of the law. But I am also aware of how powerful the impact was on me and also leaves me somewhat scared that I could be so easily manipulated!!
Knowing this has got me to be more aware of how advertising is organized. I have started looking at advertising in a different way and noticing the kind of impact that the adverts that I see around and on TV have on me. I have become much more aware of the importance of paying attention to common denominators among various objects, activities, environment, and so on, around me.
I would like to start a business in team coaching, mentoring coaches and personal development for professionals. I am thinking deeply how to make use of common denominators and natural forces in crafting information about the programs. However, I feel stuck and unable to break through the stuckness. Then a famous old expression comes to mind that “Rome was not built in a day”. Will I be able to effortlessly experience TSMs and use the NMS? Right now that does not seem to be possible!!
